Oh my good Lord! This one hits home.  Joe and I grew up singing together, in a barbershop quartet, in a play we performed at Columbus School, and in choir throughout our high school years. We were on different sides of the political divide, and had a few heated disagreements, but he was always respectful and open to understanding. Rest in peace, my friend. You'll be singing with the angels now. - Phil Domenico

I'll miss Joe. He had contributed many memories to this site. I know he lost and missed his very close friend, Susan Hatch. I hope they are both rejoicing now. - Dennis Parrish

Omg! I’ve known him for so long and walked home from Columbus School with him so many times. This is sad news.- Susan Spadafora

My memories of Joe are nothing short of very fond. He was a humorous, quirky special man. I enjoyed our HS lunches together and the laughs he brought to us. Losing Joe hits too close for comfort. He will be missed by not only his family members but his friends from over 50 years ago. Rest In Peace Joe! - Walt Kapinos

Wow so sad we have lost so many. Good health to all in the new year. - JoAnne Gotti

This is so sad.  This really hit home.  I remember Joe and I had classes together and on the outside he was so serious looking but he enjoyed making me laugh in class.  I can’t believe he is gone.  He will truly be missed. - Saneen Armstrong

I am truly heartbroken to hear of his passing. My last visit to Rome Joe and I got together over coffee and just sat and talked about everything under the sun. It left such an impression on me to know him so personally. We’ve lost so many this year that it really puts a perspective on life and how we live it. I wish much health and peace to all at this time. - Susan Sutter

I have known Joe ever since the 1960s when we went to Staley Junior High. He was always a good and kind person. I am so glad that we reconnected over the past few years and shared some of our experiences working in the government.  Every year it gets harder to see more and more friends added to the memorial page. Joe and I had some good times in school and I will always remember our conversations. Rest In Peace my friend.- Mike Amato

Last Sunday night I sent a humorous political story to Joe, as we often exchanged such gems.  Exactly four  minutes later I got the news.   It was a tremendous blow. I have known Joe since the Columbus School days. We often reminisced.  Politics and music were the hot topics as of late.  He always had a good musical quip or cartoon or clip to share.    Here’s the last thing I shared with him along with his reply.
