Gary Alan Jones, 73, of
Lady Lake, FL and Rome, NY entered
Heaven on May 14th , 2026, after a
battle with cancer.
Gary was born in Rome, NY on July
22nd, 1952, and was raised in
Westernville, NY. He graduated
from Rome Free Academy in 1970. He
spent 27 years of his career at
Rome Cable Corp. before moving on
to Turning Stone Casino &
Resort where he spent 14 years as
a Table Games Dealer. He retired
in 2017.
Gary is survived by his beloved
wife, Nancy; their three sons,
Eric (Marissa) Jones, Las Vegas,
NV, Brian Jones, Pasadena, MD and
Kevin (Amber Cook) Jones,
Scranton, PA; eight grandchildren;
Dominic, Christian, Noah and
Gianni, Las Vegas, NV, Violet, and
Nichole Rome, NY, Bradley,
Pasedena, MD and Zachary,
Scranton, PA; sisters, Lynne
(Paul) Beck, Gwyn (Fred) Talerico
and Kellie Jones; and brothers,
Danny Jones and Kyle (Char) Jones;
as well as many nieces; and
nephews. He was preceded in death
by his father, Keith R. Jones; and
his mother, Shirley Jones.
Gary loved golfing, bowling,
skiing, hunting, fishing and
traveling. He was inducted into
the Rome, NY Sports Hall of Fame
in 2000 for his achievements in
bowling. A big fan of the New York
Yankees and the Buffalo Bills, he
could often be found watching one
of his favorite teams. Much of his
time was spent traveling to his
children’s hockey, baseball and
martial arts tournaments and ski
races. He never missed a game.
After retirement, Gary and his
beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy
split their time between Rome, NY
and The Villages, FL where they
were truly Livin’ the Dream. He
made his mark on this world
through long lasting friendships,
and good times. Always quick with
a joke and a smile. He spread joy
and laughter everywhere he went.
A Funeral Mass will be held at
Saint Mark the Evangelist Roman
Catholic Church in Summerfield, FL
at 10:00 am on Monday June 15th ,
2026, with a gathering to follow.
A Celebration of Life will take
place on Saturday July 25th, 2026,
at 7148 Stokes-Westernville Rd,
Westernville, NY 13486 from
