Terry
M. DeBonza, 69, of South Crescent Dr.,
passed away on Sunday, November 28,
2021, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical
Center, Utica.
He was born on July 4, 1952, in
Boonville, a son of Joseph F. and
Myrtle Sasenbury DeBonza. He grew up
in Rome, where he was a graduate of
Rome Free Academy, with the Class of
1970. On April 20, 1978, Terry
enlisted with the US Air Force,
serving in Guam and Maine, until his
honorable discharge on April 19, 1982.
He then returned to Rome, NY, where he
was employed for more than 20 years as
a developmental aide with Rome DDSO.
He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Terry is survived by his significant
other, Sharon Kellum, Rome; a
daughter, Kimberly DeBonza, Clinton;
son, Joseph A. (Maribeth) DeBonza,
Albany; four grandchildren, Herman,
Brody, Kenzie, and Ethan;
step-daughter, Tracy Niemiec; sisters,
Carol (Vito) Sparace, Rome, Catherine
Barber, Camden, and Laurie Edy, Rome;
and several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his brothers, Gary F.
and Joseph G. DeBonza.
All services will be held privately,
at the convenience of his family.
Interment will be in Ava Cemetery.
Terry’s arrangements are in care of
the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143
Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Rome
Rescue Mission.
