Susan Hatch

Oriskany - Susan C. Hatch, 69, of Oriskany died Friday, October 29, 2021. She was born April 26, 1952 in Massena, NY the daughter of Herbert and Beverly (Premo) Hatch. Susan graduated from RFA in 1970 and received her Bachelor's of Science from SUNY Oswego in 1974. She worked for Mele Manufacturing for 42 years, retiring in 2018. Following retirement, Susan worked part-time for Dunham Library, Whitesboro. Susan was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She had a great love for her family and selflessly cared for her mother for 17 plus years. Susan loved her home, cat and enjoyed her flower gardens. She also enjoyed traveling, movies and watching Jeopardy nightly. She is survived by two sisters, Catherine A. Hatch and Abigail V. (Brian) Wahl; her brother, Herbert H. Hatch; two nephews, Nathaniel H. Hatch and David P. Hatch; a niece, Tiffany Sue Wahl; several great nephews, a great niece and long time friend Martha Gifford. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday November 7th at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court Street, Rome. I always enjoyed talking to her while we were in class at RFA, and catching each other at the reunions. I recall she was kind of quiet. Later in life I learned the quiet ones were many times the most brilliant, fun to be around, and made some of the most significant contributions to the task at hand.
