Richard Hodinger

Richard
J. Hodinger, 74, of Rome, formerly of
Utica, passed away Monday, June 26,
2006 at Rome Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born in Utica on November
3, 1931, the son of Ralph and Harriet
(Beverly) Hodinger. He was raised and
educated locally and graduated with a
teaching degree from Hobart College in
1954. Richard taught at several area
schools before ending up at Rome Free
Academy where he taught until his
retirement in 1984. He was a member of
the Rome Art and Community Center and
the Rome Men's Club.
Richard was of the Roman Catholic
faith. He was also an antique
enthusiast. Richard is survived by his
sister, Susan Golindez, New Hartford;
two nieces and a nephew-in-law, Susan
and Christopher Veronda and their
daughter, Rachael, Rochester, Barbara
Richards, Whitesboro; a nephew and
niece-in-law, Stephen and Wendy
Richards and their children, Kimberly,
Bethany, and Jack, Rochester.
Richard's funeral will be held on
Friday, June 30, 2006 at 9:30 am at
St. Ann's Church, Whitesboro where his
Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated. Interment will take place
in Grandview Cemetery, Whitesboro.
Relatives and friends may call at the
Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro
St., Utica on Thursday evening, from 4
to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the American Heart
Association or the American Diabetes
Association in Richard's memory.
Richard's family would like to thank
his dear friends, Shawn Bisgrove, Kim
and Pat Taciak, and Mary Ann Calicchia
for the love and support they have
shown to Richard.
