Paul
S. Witt, Jr., 58, of N. James St.,
Rome, passed away on Monday, August
16, 2010, at Faxton-St. Luke’s
Healthcare in New Hartford,
following a courageous battle with
cancer. He was born on August 6,
1952, in Rome, the son of Paul and
Veronica Larkin Witt, Sr. He was a
graduate of Rome Free Academy. He
was a New York State Fishing Guide
for many years. Paul previously
worked for the Rome Cable Corp. and
the Pettibone Corp.
Paul
proudly served his country as a
decorated member of the United
States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of St. Peter’s
Church.
Paul
was an active fisherman and loved
horse racing. He was an avid poker
and pool player. Paul was loved by
everyone who knew him and will be
missed by all.
Surviving
are four brothers, Patrick Witt, of
Rome, John Witt, of Blossvale,
Thomas Witt and Robert Witt, both of
Rome; three nieces, Lacey, Jennie
and Laura; two nephews, Buster and
Michael; and his special canine
friend, "Dancer."
Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Nunn
and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418
N. George St., Rome. Interment will
take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited and
may call on Thursday from 4:00 to
7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

memory to the Rome Humane Society.
