On March 25, 2023, Kathleen
"Kathy" Villeneuve (Leidig) passed
away peacefully, with her family
by her side, in the comforting
care of AccentCare Hospice Center,
Largo, FL.
Kathy was born and raised in Rome,
NY, on November 15, 1952, to T.
Richard Leidig and Lucille T.
Leidig , sister to Richard Leidig
and Stephen Leidig.
Kathy leaves behind the love of
her life Bruce Villeneuve of
Largo, FL; daughter, Karen (Chris)
Swim; son, Steven (Lea) Spitzer;
and four cherished grandchildren,
Jack, Sammy, Adie and Carmen. She
was predeceased by granddaughter,
Kayleigh. She also leaves behind
many nieces, nephews, cousins and
in-laws, who all were the
recipients of her unending love
and kindness.
After a distinguished teaching
career in Syracuse as a librarian,
specializing in electronic media,
Kathy left her long-time home in
Liverpool, NY, and semi-retired to
Largo, FL. She purchased her own
Shangri-La and worked at her dream
job at St. Jerome's Catholic
Church.
Kathy had a profound love and
respect for nature and spent much
of her time outside. Her interests
included singing, dancing, skiing,
swimming, sailing and kayaking.
Her favorite activity, however,
was spending time with her beloved
grandchildren.
Following her death, there were
two celebrations of life: Largo,
FL, and Nassau, NY, followed by a
burial service at St. Mary's
Cemetary.
Memorial contributions in Kathy's
memory can be made to the hospice
care of your choosing.
