Joanne Rosato
George, 68, of Rome, passed away on Sunday,
March 28, 2021, in the Upstate Medical
Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born on September 26, 1952, in Rome,
daughter of Joseph and Agnes Gates Rosato.
She graduated from RFA in 1970. On October
7, 1972, she married Frank George, a loving
union of 48 years. She was co-owner with her
husband of Long’s Auto Electric since 1988.
Joanne also worked for Birnie Bus Service
for the Rome School System.
Joanne was loved by many; it is hard to name
everyone she touched in this life time,
which ran deep. Joanne was big on family and
tradition as heritage had taught her. Joanne
loved the game of Bocce and competed in
multiple tournaments over the years, where
she gained many lifelong friends. Another
thing Joanne loved to do was cook and bake
for the holidays and get-togethers. You
never left hungry. A song verse comes to
mind that Joanne said often...”I did things
my way” (Frank Sinatra).
Joanne is survived by her beloved family,
her husband, Frank; a son, Frank (Tracy)
George of Brewerton; three beautiful
grandchildren, Frank (her king), Ashley and
Olivia (her princesses) whom she loved more
than anything; a brother and sister-in-law,
Joseph (Karen) Rosato; nephew, Joseph
Rosato; very close friends Liz and Louis
Voci, Christine (daughter of her heart), and
Tim Meeker; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, John (Sharon) Catalano,
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and
Sue George; many loved nieces and nephews,
and countless close friends. She was
predeceased by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday,
April 2, at 2 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral
Home, 120 W. Embargo Street with the Rev.
Paul Angelicchio officiating. Entombment
will be in the St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the
funeral home on Friday, from 12-2 p.m. prior
to the service. Masks and social distancing
are required.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made in Joanne’s memory to the Humane
Society of Rome, PO Box 4572, Rome, NY
13442.

Truly sad. I wish we
had our 50th last year..... but this
weaponized covid screwed the world. JOANNE
and I were going to get together and have
some laughs ... i hope she is with her Mom
and Dad and we'll all be together again in
a better place..... - Mike Amato
This is so sad. I’m so sorry to hear about
Joanne. She worked hard on the 40th
reunion. Hopefully we can all reunite this
summer for our 51st. Joanne will be
missed. - Susan Spadafora
I’m sure I speak for many from the class
of 1970 in thanking Joanne for the work
she had done for many of the past
reunions. - Dennis Parrish
So glad we gathered
for lunch with Joanne. I went through
school since kindergarten with Joann.
Long time friend.- Joan Serino
