James A. Milewski

James
A. Milewski Sr. passed away peacefully
at home on March 22, 2019 at Acacia
village with his loving family at is
side. He was born on July 15, 1931 in
Albany NY. He lived with Esther and
Joe Dusavage and his grandparents
Martin and Pelagia Milewski on a dairy
farm on Roses Brook He graduated from
South Kortwright Central High School
in 1949. He then enlisted in the US
Air Force and served in Korea during
the conflict. After being honorably
discharged he returned to the United
States to attend Oswego State Teachers
College (now SUNY at Oswego) and
received a Bachelors Degree in
Education on the GI Bill.
James spent 32 years working for the
Rome Public Schools as a teacher (at
Staley Jr. High), a computer
programmer and guidance counselor (at
RFA). In that time he earned a Masters
Degree in education from Colgate
University and became a accredited
School Psychologist. He concurrently
worked as a night school guidance
counselor at MVCC upon retiring from
the Rome Public School system.
After retiring he returned part time
to work for New York State as a
Psychologist. James had a passion for
the antique cars he bought and
restored. His treasures include a 1923
Buick Opera Coup, a 1931 Model A stake
rack pickup truck and a 1965 Buick
custom sport Riviera. He showed all
three vehicles in local, state and
national meets and won numerous
awards.
James was a member of the Rome Elks
Club attaining 50 years, Mohican Model
A Club, Tappet Twirlers, Buick Club of
America, Riviera Owners Association
(ROA), and the Antique Automobile Club
of America (AACA).
Surviving are his loving wife and
dance partner of 65 years Alberta M.
(nee) Healey, his children and spouses
James Jr. (Sue) Milewski and Michael
(Melody) Milewski, his grandchildren
James III (Kristine) Milewski,
Theodore Joesph (Brandi) Milewski,
Michelle (Jason) Decharo, Christopher
Milewski, Dr. Andrew Milewski, Kelly
(Chris) Carinci, Christine Rudd, and
Michelle (Felix) Colosimo, his great
grandchildren Mya, Serina, Cara,
Bianca, Emily, Nicolina, C.J., Conner,
Avery, Allidy, Christopher, Rhiannon,
Hunter, Jack, Madelyn and Cooper. A
Funeral Mass and Memorial will be held
on April 5th., 2019 at 11:30 AM at St.
Mary's of the Lake in Verona Beach NY.
There are no calling hours, the family
will receive guests at the church
beginning at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that
contributions be made to St. Mary's of
the Lake Church.
