Edward
R. Goworek, 61, of Ava, passed away on
Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St.
Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica.
He was
born on November 27, 1951, in Rome,
the son of Joseph and Agnes Irosz
Goworek.
He was a graduate of
Rome Free Academy and attended Mohawk
Valley Community College.
On
April 29, 1989, Edward was united in
marriage to Phyllis Piatkowski in
Transfiguration Church in Rome.
Edward proudly served
his country as a member of the United
States Army serving from 1971-1974.
He was
employed by Carl’s Drugs in their
warehouse for several years. He has
worked as a service technician for Ed
and Ed Business Technology for the
last twenty-two years.
He was
a member of Transfiguration Church and
the American Legion. He was also a
director of the Rome Polish Home.
Ed was
a compassionate and gentle man. He
enjoyed traveling with his wife all
over the United States and Canada. He
loved Polka dancing and was proud of
his Polish heritage. Ed and his
Phyllis attended several Polish
festivals throughout the US and
Canada.
Surviving
besides his loving wife of
twenty-three years, Phyllis; are a
brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and
Nancy Goworek, of Marcy; two
sisters-in-law, Stella Goworek and
Nancy Goworek, both of Rome; several
nieces and nephews; and his beloved
cat, Kashia. Edward was predeceased by
two brothers, Robert Goworek and
Joseph Goworek.
Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday,
March 27, 2013, at the Nunn and Harper
Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St.,
Rome, at 8:30 AM and a Mass of the
Christian Burial at Transfiguration
Church at 9:00 AM where the Rev. Paul
F. Angelicchio will officiate.
Interment will take place in St.
Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends
are invited and may call on Tuesday
from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00
PM at the funeral home. You may view
