Billy of
Rome, NY was born in Geneva, NY on June 2, 1950
he went home to the Lord on November 1, 2013
after a tough and brave battle with a heart
condition.
Billy was a very special person with a
truly remarkable soul. He was loved by many,
especially his family who are now feeling lost
without him. Billy lived a very happy life. He
enjoyed his daily walks to Tops Supermarket for
coffee and his favorite treat, chicken wings. He
loved to visit all his friends especially Eeyore
Senyshyn who was always there for him (Thank you
Eeyore!). He also loved going to Bingo a few
times a week with his sister, Helen. Billy loved
movies and collected many, and also loved all
the Late Night shows and their hosts. He loved
animals and he had one pet kitty named Cuddles
that he absolutely loved and never forgot. Billy
most importantly had a very close relationship
with God and his prayers were known to work
miracles.
He touched many lives and there were
certain people that touched Billy’s. Rocky
Nigro, Tracy Froelich, Harry Aley and Peggy
Underwood were a few of many that he truly
enjoyed the company of. While Billy may be gone
here on earth, he will forever live on in the
hearts of people who loved him.
Billy is survived by his sisters, Mary
Medick, Helen News, Clara (Ann) Beers, Sara
Bastedo, Sheila Bastedo; one niece, Charissa
(Mathew) Matewicz; two great-nieces, Bianca
Marie and Sabrah Smith; one great-great-niece,
Zaelyn Annarissa; and one great-great-nephew,
Ryott Albert. He was predeceased by his parents,
William and Mary Bastedo; a sister Candace
Bastedo; a nephew Lance Beers; and his furever
friend Cuddles.
Services: We regret to say that there
will be no services scheduled, as Billy will be
cremated and his remains sent to his family in
Michigan, where they will have a private family
service. In lieu of flowers please send
donations in Billy’s name to the Rome Humane
Society.
Dear Billy,
You and Candy are embedded in
