Kilde,
Elizabeth Marie (Beth) Passed away on
September 18, 2016, in St. Paul, MN. She
was born in Minneapolis on November 8,
1951, to Paul Raymond and Marcella
Marlene (LeMaire) Kilde. Her parents
preceded her in death. Beth spent her
childhood in various places: Illinois,
Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, New
York, the Philippines, and Spain. She
received a BA in English Education from
Luther College in Deborah, Iowa, and an
MA in Creative Writing from the
University of Minnesota. She married
John Fischer in 1974. Daughter Cherolyn
was born in 1978. The couple divorced in
1990. Beth married Steve Janega in 1999.
Along with Steve, Beth was co-owner of
Natural Sound recording studio in St.
Paul. A kind and gentle person, Beth
loved reading and creative writing. She
taught poetry writing for various public
groups and was a substitute English
teacher in Minneapolis schools. She
loved nature and enjoyed camping in
northern MN and working in her vegetable
garden. Beth is survived by her husband
Steve Janega, daughter Cherolyn
(Emiliano Silva) Fischer, granddaughter
Namshaya, brother Paul (Jeanne Halgren)
Kilde of Minneapolis, sister Barbara
(Guy) Carlier of Brittany, France,
sister Janice Kilde, Eau Claire, WI,
nieces Bethany Ida and Laura Pirio, and
nephew Mark Carlier. The family thanks
the staff at Southview Acres Health Care
Center in West St. Paul for their
attentive care for Beth.
Beth
was in our graduation class. She came to
Rome just prior to our senior year, so
there is no picture of her in the
yearbook, but she was close to the top of
the class. We dated for several months in
1970 until she left for Luther college in
Iowa. Her father was the chaplain at GAFB.
In September, I drove out to Iowa to visit
her for dinner one night. Then drove back
to Rome. 2000 miles for a dinner date. She
was such a lovely person, kind, quiet, and
enjoyed ALL the arts, so not surprising
she taught poetry. This really hurts. Rest
in peace, my Beth. - Joe Mercurio
