Benjamin Z. “Ben”
Landset, 79, of Lee Center, passed away
Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Lutheran Care
in Clinton.
He was born April 16, 1941, in New York
City, the son of the late Joseph and Rose
Zier Landset. He was a graduate of UFA and
received his Bachelor’s degree from the
University of Rochester and his Master’s
degree from Syracuse University. In 1977, in
Utica, he married Nancy Harrington.
For 32 years, Mr. Landset was a Social
Studies teacher at Rome Free Academy,
retiring in 1996. He was a member of Temple
Beth El, Utica, NYSUT, American Federation
of Teachers and the Rome Teachers
Association, where he served as head of the
grievance committee.
Ben enjoyed photography, especially
photographing trains, planes and ships and
was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years,
Nancy; his brother, Ellis Landset of
Highland Beach, FL; and several nieces and
nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday,
January 15, at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen
Cemetery, Turin Road, Lee Center with Cantor
Kalman Socolof officiating.
