ROME, NEW YORK —
Audrey A. O’Rourke, 64, of Rome,
passed away unexpectedly on January
2, 2015. She was born on
November 23, 1950, in Rome, a
daughter of Frank L. and Alvera R.
Colucy Smith Sr. Audrey
was a wife, mother, nana, sister and
friend to all. She always was a
vibrant, happy, fashion correct {all
times} Diva! Audrey always
spoiled her grandkids, which were
her never ending pride and joy! When
you were sad or troubled, Audrey
could cheer you up instantly!! She
was very active in the community and
loved by all. Audrey truly cared for
and loved everyone in her life. With
a smile on her face and surrounded
by her loving family she passed. For over ten years
she was employed by the Rome
D.D.S.O. until her retirement.
Audrey was a member of St. Mary’s
Church, Rome Auxiliary Police, Rome
Republican Committee, Rome Home
Bureau, Zonta, Hemlock Twig, Henry
R. Smith Post #24 Ladies Auxiliary
where she served as past president,
Steering Committee of Rome Weed and
Seed. She is survived by
her loving husband Michael; a
daughter and son-in-law, Michelle A.
and Michael C. Kirk, Blossvale; one
brother Frank L. and Mary A. Smith
Jr., Fayetteville; two sisters,
Kathleen and James O‘Rourke, Rome,
Mary Anne and Ronald Casadei, Rome,
two grandchildren, Aidan and Owen
Kirk; along with many nieces and
nephews. Audrey was
pre-deceased by a daughter Lisa
Marie and two sisters Kimberly Anne
Smith and Rose Marie Menter. The family wishes to
thank the First Responders of the
Rome Fire Dept, Amcare Ambulance,
and Rome Police Dept for their rapid
response and expertise. Also the
family can not truly express
adequately the gratitude we send to
the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital
especially the E.R. staff and
Intensive Care Unit for their
persistence in extensive care and
professional demeanor. Your actions
will never be forgotten by Audrey’s
family, they are eternally grateful.

burial will be held on Wednesday,
January 7, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at
St. Mary’s Church, Rome. Family and
friends are invited to attend
calling hours on Tuesday from 3-7
P.M. at Strong – Burns & Sprock
Funeral Home, 401 N. George Street,
Rome. The American Legion Post 24
Auxillary members will meet at 6:30
pm. Internment will take place in
St. Mary’s Cemetery.
